About Donny:

Dr. Donny W. Suh is dedicated to advancing eye care and vision health for children worldwide. He is a Professor, the Chief of Pediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus, and the medical director of the Eye Mobile program at the University of California, Irvine (UCI), Gavin Herbert Eye Institute. 

A graduate of Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, with a Bachelor of Arts in biochemistry from Rice University, Dr. Suh completed his Pediatric ophthalmology & Strabismus fellowship at The Wilmer Eye Institute, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, following a residency at The Eye Institute, Medical College of Wisconsin.

Since 2000, Dr. Suh has performed various Global Health Programs around the World, contributing expertise to underserved regions across South America, Europe, Asia, and Africa. Furthermore, Dr. Suh played a pivotal role in establishing a vision screening program in Nebraska through the Vision Mobile program.

Dr. Suh's innovative spirit shines through his inventions, including patented pediatric eye surgical equipment and medical devices. Notably, he invented Omni Glasses, a 3D printed adjustable eyewear designed to benefit underserved children globally, particularly those with craniofacial abnormalities like microtia. His commitment to providing Omni Glasses at no cost exemplifies his dedication to equitable access to eye care.

In recognition of his contributions, Dr. Suh received the "Inventor of the Year" award and Inventor Award from various organizations.

His legacy is one of compassion, service, and tireless dedication to eliminate barriers eye care for disadvantaged youth.

About Susan:

Susan's journey in advocating for the rights of children reflects a profound commitment to justice and an unwavering dedication to making a positive impact on the lives of the most vulnerable. During her tenure as a Court-appointed Guardian-Ad-Litem and Juvenile Court Attorney in Douglas County, Omaha, Nebraska, Susan not only navigated the complexities of the legal system but also demonstrated a deep empathy for the unique challenges faced by children and families.   Her work extended beyond the courtroom, as she tirelessly collaborated with local community organizations to implement innovative programs aimed at providing support and resources to at-risk youth and families.

 

In her role at the Children's Court in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Susan faced the pressing issue of underserved children with a determination to create lasting change. Serving as a committed advocate, she not only navigated the intricacies of the legal system but also worked tirelessly to address the root causes of neglect and abuse. Susan actively engaged with social workers, educators, and healthcare professionals to develop comprehensive strategies that prioritize the holistic well-being of children. Her ability to build bridges across disciplines exemplifies her passion to child advocacy, recognizing the interconnectedness of legal, social, and educational factors in ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for every child.

 

Susan's impact as a Law instructor in Iowa further illustrates her commitment to shaping future generations of legal professionals with a deep sense of social responsibility. Through her engaging teaching style, she not only conveyed legal knowledge but instilled in her students a profound understanding of the role they could play in making a difference.
