Returning to Quetzaltenango this year reinforced our dedication to improving pediatric eye care in a region where breathtaking landscapes contrast with significant healthcare challenges. While the local community is rich in culture and tradition, many families still struggle to access specialized medical care, particularly for children.Under Dr. Rhyee’s leadership at the Bethesda Clinic and Hospital, our team once again focused on providing life-changing care. Through delicate surgeries and comprehensive eye exams, we helped children regain their sight and their future. Alongside direct patient care, we prioritized education—training local ophthalmologists and sharing expertise to strengthen long-term ophthalmic care.

Collaborating with passionate specialists from the U.S. and Nepal, we also addressed broader vision care needs in the community. A highlight of our mission was the exchange of knowledge at our symposium, where local physicians gathered to learn, share, and refine their skills. This year’s mission was another step in our ongoing effort to create lasting change. By combining medical care with education, we hope to leave a sustainable impact—ensuring that more children can see a brighter future.
