Our journey took us to the bustling city of Kathmandu, a place steeped in culture and spirituality, yet challenged by healthcare disparities. In collaboration with the Tilganga Institute of Ophthalmology and the legendary Dr. Sanduk Ruit, known as the "Barefoot Surgeon," we aimed to empower local healthcare providers.

 

During our visit, we focused on providing comprehensive training to pediatric ophthalmologists, emphasizing recent innovations in surgical techniques and myopia management. Our lectures inspired the participants to think creatively about solutions for common challenges in eye care. We addressed critical issues facing the community, ensuring that the benefits of our teachings would resonate far beyond our visit.

 

The camaraderie and teamwork reflected the dedication of the local healthcare practitioners. Together, we explored new ways to bring eye care to those who needed it most, fostering a spirit of collaboration that we hope will lead to lasting change.
